Remembering Donna Fuller
Retired CFA judge Donna Fuller passed away April 9, 2025. Born and raised in Boone, Iowa. Donna graduated from Iowa State University (and very recently endowed a professorship at her alma mater). Donna was a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and retired from PPG a number of years ago. Donna was married to Charles (Chuck) Fuller, living most of their married life in Foster City and Hillsborough, CA. Donna’s husband Chuck passed away April 20, 2022.
Donna & Chuck bred Russian Blues under the cattery name of Tsar Blu, and achieved her first national winner in 1974-75 with GC BW NW Velva’s Cobalt of Tsar Blu. He was soon followed by national winners with her Tsar Blu prefix, the first being in 1976-77 GC BW NW Tsar Blu’s Fitzwilliam. Donna also showed Birmans and exhibited a Persian to a national win. Donna was accepted in the CFA Judging Program and began judging in 1985, traveling worldwide. She served on the CFA Board of Directors as its treasurer 1996-2000. Donna retired from the Judging Program September 18, 2022 with the highest honor of Judge Emeritus.
Donna was known as a fierce competitor in the show ring though always cheering on other Russian Blues; she was also very kind and helpful to Russian Blue breeders, always willing to share her bloodlines. Many Russian Blue breeders have Tsar Blu cats in their cats pedigrees.
In addition to her love of the Cat Fancy and all things Russian Blue, Donna was an accomplished needlepointer and belonged to ANG, American Needlepoint Guild.
Donna began retiring and placing her breeding cats several years ago and thanks to the efforts of Russian Blues breeders in the northwest area, all cats have great homes.
