Bob Salisbury Retires From the CFA Judging Program

Linda Acomb

Cat Fanciers’ Association allbreed judge Bob Salisbury started showing and breeding sable Burmese cats in the early 1960s under the cattery name “Pum-Ko.” While he was in the Marine Corps stationed at Camp Pendleton, he and his wife, Carole, attended most of the local cat shows in Southern California. In the 1970s, they started breeding and showing Exotic Shorthairs and Devon Rex and phased out of Burmese. Bob and Carole produced many top-winning Exotics and Devons, including a CFA breed winner.

After breeding and showing cats for almost 20 years, Bob applied for and was accepted into the CFA judging program. After completing the required training, Bob was approved as a shorthair specialty judge in 1981 and shortly after completing the longhair requirements, became an allbreed judge. In the judging ring, Bob was known for his gentle touch, which communicated well with the cats and their owners. He judged mainly on the West Coast, but enjoyed a few judging assignments in Japan, Europe, and Hawaii. After 44 years of judging, Bob has decided that the time has come to retire from the CFA judging program.

Bob is well-respected and liked within the CFA community, especially in his “home,” the CFA Southwest Region.  We will miss his presence and expertise behind the judging table but wish him well in his retirement.
