This Symposium will focus on recent advances in diagnosis and treatment of diarrhea in cats and kittens.
Valeria Scorza, MV, MS, PhD
Colorado State University
"Those Frustrating Kitten Diarrheas"
Dr. Scorza is interested in feline infectious diseases and zoonoses, specifically in two protozoan parasites: Cryptosporidium and Giardia. She is currently a Post-Doctoral fellow in Dr. Michael Lappin’s laboratory at Colorado State University.
Jody Gookin, DVM, PhD
Assistant Professor, Internal Medicine
North Carolina State University
"Update on Feline Tritrichomonas"
Dr. Gookin's laboratory is focused on the study of two enteric protozoal pathogens; Cryptosporidium parvum and Tritrichomonas foetus. Her research on C. parvum, a pathogen of importance to both veterinary and human medicine, is funded by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. Her laboratory collaborates extensively with the Center for Gastrointestinal Biology and Disease at UNC-Chapel Hill and the Laboratories of Drs. Mike Levy and Edward Breitschwerdt.
