The Cat Fanciers' Association's 2009 International Cat Show will be held at the Georgia International Convention Center in Atlanta, GA on November 21 and 22, 2009. This global event will find cat fanciers from North and South America, Europe, Hawaii, Japan and Bermuda competing to earn a place in cat show history at The CFA International Cat Show, the "Westminster" of cat shows.
The CFA International Cat Show will consist of six longhair and six shorthair speciality rings presided over by a distinguished panel of 12 judges from across the United States. The top five longhair and top five shorthairs from each competitive category (kitten, championship and premiership) will be named by each judge. During the grand finale on Sunday afternoon, the Best of Breed/Division in each category will be presented, with the Second Best of Breed/Division being announced.
A panel of three judges will then select one overall Best-in-Show from the six finalists - the Best Longhair and Best Shorthair from the three categories.
A large number of vendors will tempt anyone's wallet with their displays of cat paraphernalia, from toys to magazines to jewelry to scratching posts. The last CFA International Cat Show, also held in Atlanta, GA, had more than 700 entries. Entries for the 2009 show are expected from around the world - North and South America, Europe, Hawaii, Japan and Bermuda. Proceeds from the CFA International Cat Show benefit The Winn Feline Foundation, a non-profit organization which is dedicated to providing funding for cat health studies. Since its founding in 1968, the foundation has raised more than $2 million, with the total amount going to feline health studies.
